• Our dream is to see the young people we serve

    Experience God and His love

Creating communities of hope and becoming beacons of light in Jane & Finch

  • Through grassroot initiatives,
we develop long term mentoring relationships.
We walk with people through the ups and downs of life,

    helping them know
    God's deep love for them.

About us

Who we are

YU Jane & Finch is an area team of Youth Unlimited, a faith-based organization that has been serving young people in Toronto since 1945. Our vision, put simply, is to see transformed youth transforming our city. We do this through grassroots programming, a focus on wholistic transformation, and a network of local partnerships. Learn more about our work and impact at yugta.ca.

Youth Unlimited's current four-year strategy - called “Gaining Ground” – continues to be guided by our Making Space pathways in the areas of vulnerable youth, mental health, church integration of youth, and living out wholistic transformation. We believe God is inviting us to invest and reach into new places, new spaces, and new ways of doing things to see more and more transformed youth transforming our city. You can learn more about this strategy and how you can make a difference in our city at gainingground.yugta.ca/.

Come and Volunteer with Us!

Our programs relies on a hardworking group of volunteers who invest their time and energy in youth transformation through mentoring, visiting, participating in our programs, sharing a meal, checking in, and more.

Because relationships of trust take time to build, we look for a minimum one-year commitment for involvement with youth. Projects or events can be more short-term. Due to the nature of our work with young people, we generally prefer youth work volunteers to be 21 or older. For those mentoring youth, volunteers share our faith-based approach to ministry.

  • "Blessed are those who trust in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. They shall be like a tree planted by water, sending out its roots by the stream. It shall not fear when heat comes; and its leaves shall stay green; in the year of drought it is not anxious, and it does not cease to bear fruit."

    - St. Francis of Assisi

  • "It is precisely when we see and experience poverty — whether far away, close by, or in our hearts — that we need to become the Church; that is, hold hands as brothers and sisters, confess our own brokenness and need, forgive one another, heal one another's wounds, and gather around the table of Jesus for the breaking of the bread. Thus, as the poor we recognize Jesus, who became poor for us."

August 31, 2023

The Downsview & Rexdale Summer Sports Program, part of YU’s Jane-Finch ministry, runs in several locations each week throughout the summer. I dropped by Stanley Greene Park, a beautiful location with basketball nets, grass to play soccer, football, and volleyball, and skateboard ramps.

Seeds of Hope Jane-Finch Summer Camp

September 1, 2023

Seeds of Hope Summer Camp aims to see youth rise above the challenges they face and create a new wave of brave leaders in their community who aren’t afraid to shine their light. Campers, who may not otherwise be given the same opportunities as their peers, are provided countless new experiences. I had the joy of spending a whole day at the camp and saw firsthand the engagement and excitement that the youth have coming to Seeds of Hope..
